Sierra LeoneSierra Leonean Community in Pittsburgh
The Sierra Leonean population in Greater Pittsburgh is very small, and includes a number of professionals, a few graduate students at Pitt, Duquesne and Point Park College, a medical doctor, and a business owner. Because our community population is small compared to others, it is much easier for us to welcome newcomers to Pittsburgh. A welcome gathering is usually held in the house of one of the local Sierra Leoneans to provide the newcomers the assurance that they are at home, even in a foreign land.

The leadership of the Sierra Leonean Community maintains a strong representation with the Union of African Communities in Pittsburgh.
