The Ghanaian Community in Pittsburgh has an organized association “Ghanaian Association of Pittsburgh” and the leadership is actively involved in the Union of African Communities in Pittsburgh and Allegheny County. The Ghanaian community is made up of families and individuals totaling over 200 people residing in the greater Pittsburgh area. Ghanaians in the Southwestern Pennsylvania region contribute to the development, growth and cultural enrichment of the area as businessmen and women, educators, transportation operators, healthcare providers and other professionals.

The Ghanaian Association of Pittsburgh was formed in 1998 to provide a forum for promoting cultural and educational programs to enhance the quality of life of its members and other residents of the region. The organization offers assistance to members in times of need, and contributes to the development of Ghana. Its activities are open to the public.
